2. The material of the pulley and the hardness of the tooth surface have an important influence on the transmission quality. The most common form of failure of pulleys is tooth surface wear and pitting, so the sheave surfaces should have sufficient wear resistance and contact strength. Studies have shown that the general pulley material can use medium carbon steel or medium carbon alloy structural steel, such as 45#, 40Cr, 35SiMn, etc., for normalizing or quenching, so that the hardness of the tooth surface is 200 to 260 HB. 3. In the synchronous toothed belt transmission, in order to prevent the timing belt from slipping off from the pulley side, the pulley must have a stopper plate. The stopper plate should be 1 to 2 mm higher than the back of the belt and has an inclination of about 5 degrees.
4. When the pulley rotation speed is greater than the limit rotation speed, dynamic balancing must be performed. When the pulley rotation speed is greater than the limit rotation speed, only static balance is required. After balance detection, the residual unbalanced amount of the pulley should not exceed the allowable value.
5. When the pulley installation is skewed, the belt side is pressed against the stopper and the wear of the belt side is aggravated. Therefore, the parallelism of the pulley axis must be taken into account during installation so that the drive center plane of each pulley is in the same plane.
6. If the overload or pre-tightening force is too large, it will lead to a difference in tooth pitch, resulting in meshing interference and tooth surface wear. When overloaded, the bearing capacity is greatly reduced. Therefore, in the application of synchronous toothed belts, it is necessary to prevent overload and select the appropriate preload.
